Movie watch: The Veil

The Veil is “an epic low budget horror film”. Having watched the trailer, I’m guessing that it’s the kind of pant-shittingly scary horror film that all zombie movies should be.
Work first started on The Veil back in 2000 and it’s creators claim that this was well before the influx of the big screen zombie blockbusters like Resident Evil and 28 Days Later.
Cheap-as-chips flicks like Peter Jacksons’ Bad Taste inspired them to work on ‘The Veil’ and after 5 long years; the three man team working part-time on the movie, finally finished it in 2005. It’s a psychological horror that follows a group of soldiers during the Cold-war, trying to survive an outbreak of a highly contagious disease. This year, the 150-minute long zombie fest claws it’s way on to DVD and in to the homes of zombie lovers everywhere.
I love movie review quotes and there are some stonkers for this movie. But the mere fact that funny film loving nutter Nigel Buckland (of Channel 4’s VIDS fame) has reviewed this movie, is enough to make me buy it alone. He barked: ”The Veil packs more visceral punch than Cronenberg on Amphetamine sulphate… see it!”. Brilliant.
Check out the trailer and see what you think…
The Veil is released worldwide on 8th January, in association with Brain Damage Films and is available from all good retailers. Ok, well not all of them but try www.braindamagefilms.com for starters.
Or Amazon. They’re pretty good.
